APACHE JUNCTION
Update-October 2, 2008

Update-September 8, 2008

Anyone remember this? I know I haven't forgotten, and neither have a bunch of AJ riders. On July 27th, they organized a protest at the AJ Skatepark. About 25 riders showed up, and they were met by the AJ police, park rangers, and even the fire department! The cops even threatened to arrest the organizer, but they didn't end up doing it.
These AJ kids have some balls, and we've got to support them. They've decided to hold another protest on Saturday, October 4th. I'll get a time to you when it gets closer. I'm also looking for sponsors to throw down some free stuff to give out that day, so hit me up if you want to help out. Be sure to bring any video and still camera you can get your hands on, because watching AJ's law enforcement go nuts over stupid shit will be highly photogenic.
Update-March 10th, 2006

On Sunday, March 5th, seven BMX riders were given tickets at the Apache Junction Skatepark for three charges each: Riding their bikes in the skatepark, interfering with park ranger duties and committing dangerous acts. To my knowledge, this is the first city in the world to charge any bike rider with committing a dangerous act just by virtue of riding his bike in a skatepark.
This is obscene!!!
Here's what one of the 7 riders who got a ticket wrote on the message board on Monday, March 6th:
Yea shit went down at the AJ park yesterday. 3 cops, two park rangers, a 20 minute chase, 7 bikes taken away and 3 charges each.....bikes prohibited, interfering with park ranger duties and the best one Dangerous Acts! because we were airing out of the quarters and harassing little kids yeah whatever bunch of bullshit.
This is so wrong, words just can't express....
I'll keep you updated on this situation.
