Hi,
My name is Sandy Lehmann and I work as a Recreation Supervisor for
the City of Santa Clarita's Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department.

I just wanted to get back in touch with you and answer your questions
in regards to allowing BMX bikes in our Skate Park, which we currently allow.
A little while back we decided to allow BMX bikes, Rollerbladers
and scooters in our park on a temporary 6 month trial basis and
then at the end of the six month we would share feedback with our
commissions as to how we felt things were going.  At the end of
the 6 month trial period we felt that things were working out and
the wear and tear on the skate park seemed to be normal wear and
tear and that additional wear and tear was being caused solely by
the additional users of the park.  The commissions decided to continue
to allow the multi-users to utilize the skate park, in addition,
to working out a rotation schedule between the upper and lower basin.
The commissions wanted us to implement this schedule because of
safety concerns and during the peak usage time (2:30 to 6:30 p.m.,
7 days a week) that we would post signs stating a rotation system
among users.  For example, if we felt that there was enough multi-users
in the park during the peak time then the rotation schedule would
have to be followed, such as, asking users to move between the different
basins every hour, with the groups being divided into Bikes & scooters
using one basin and Skateboarders & Rollerskaters sharing the other basin.

Overall, things seem to be going well and it has been decided to
continue to let multi-users utilize the Skate/Bike Park at this time.

Furthermore, just to let you know that our Skate/Bike Park is considered
an unsupervised facility and the appropriate rules are  posted and
users utilize the park at their own risk.  Since we are fortunate
to a city facility at the same location the on-site gym staff is
required to walk the grounds every hour to make sure that everything is running smoothly on-site.

I hope this information helps you out and if you need any additional
information please just let me know.  Thanks and take care.
