The Bike, Blade and Board Coalition endorses only one skatepark designer in the whole United States.  If another company is designing your city's park, then it is very likely they either harbor a bias against bmx bike riders or they design sub-standard skate/bike parks that will not hold up to the wear and tear that skateboarders, inline skaters, and bmx bike riders incur during normal use.
